Tim Wilmot talks with Police

Having psychologically broken Tolley with the truth,
Tim Wilmot knew that Tolley was breakable at any time.

Had Tolley not claimed in the street
that he had been assaulted,
Tim Wilmot probably would not have gone to police,
because trust in the police was minimal,
due to their being very obviously on Caradon's side.

Tim Wilmot asked to see the Desk Sergeant,
and stated that,
as this was what Tolley felt able to do in broad daylight,
events after dark might well be different,
so, while Tim Wilmot did not want Tolley arrested,
he did want a formal record made of the event.

The reader may well wonder
why Tim Wilmot did not want the book thrown at Tolley,
who, after all, was the prime mover
in Caradon District Council's lying cover-up?

The answer is that Tim Wilmot saw police
as biased in favour of Caradon District Council,
and he was focused on bringing the Council to justice come what may.

What Tim Wilmot required was the police being obliged
to recognise that Tolley was no saint.

After a certain amount of resistance,
the Desk Sergeant finally agreed
that Tolley would be brought into the station,
and if he admitted the events,
he would be given a Formal Caution,
which is formally recorded.

On that note, Tim Wilmot left the police to it.
